Hi! I’m Shaochen, the owner and calligrapher behind Monstera Gold. I lived in the Bay Area for over a decade before moving to Denver, where I absolutely love the mountains, but am still getting used to the snow!
I’m the sap who cries at every vow reading and relishes in the magic of weddings. Nothing brings me more joy than getting to create something beautiful for your big day and bring your vision to life! As your guide, my goal is to make your experience seamless from start to finish.
I discovered calligraphy as an escape from a stressful job, and found that it was one of the few ways I could calm my mind. I believe in the power of words and fell in love with calligraphy as an art and a practice. But I actually started on this path as a child, with formal training in Chinese calligraphy...12 year old Shaochen would never have guessed that this would be my career one day - talk about dream job!

Hi! I’m Tiffany, calligrapher & hand lettering artist working with Bay Area wedding clients. I love the celebration of a couple’s love and commitment to each other. It’s an honor to create hand lettered words that tell your story. I take your messages and transform them into works of art for your wedding. Every word and design I create are all personalized for you. No two projects are ever the same.
My life is so fast paced being a wife, mom of 3, and a pastor. I needed soul-rest and was able to find it through calligraphy and hand lettering. This art form requires focus, intention and for me to slow down. It started as a hobby, making gifts for friends & family, but I never thought it would be my main source of income. Being an artist for Monstera Gold has allowed me to work with amazing clients on my own time, while not having to sacrifice time from my family & church.

It takes a village! Our extended team includes delivery specialists, wood workers, fabrication studios, and more to help simplify your planning and execute on your vision. We also work with talented stationers when printing is the best option rather than hand lettering, for paper goods such as menus or programs. We love working with our trusted partners, and are also happy to coordinate with vendors you are working with!

PANDEMIC BRIDE
Like many couples, we had to face the decision of canceling, postponing, or eloping. We went the micro-wedding route, and celebrated (cautiously) with 25 of our closest friends and family members in Estes Park.

MY BOYS
My boys light up my life: my rescue border collie mix Copper, and my happy baby Emmett! You can bet there are a lot of cuddles around here.

WHAT'S IN A NAME
My business name, Monstera Gold, is inspired by the jungle plant, known for the holes in their heart shaped leaves. Together with “gold”, the name is meant to evoke a sense of “earthy sophistication” that is both beautiful and welcoming.

new year's resolution
My recurring resolution is to visit one new national park each year. I’ve got 25 parks under my belt worldwide!
